‘From Georgia to Holland – It Is Difficult but possible’
Goga Gakhokidze: "From Georgia to Holland - It Is Difficult but Possible"
He has been agent for more than one year and has already made some interesting transfers. For example, the most interesting was transfer of Guram Kashia to "Vitesse". Unfortunately, transfer of players from Georgian Championship to strong foreign countries seldom happens.
"World Sport" contacted Gakhokidze:
First of all, I will ask you about Guram Kashia: was it a difficult process to transfer him to "Vitesse"?
- The more difficult it is the more happy we are when it ends successfully. There were some difficulties. No one believed that Kashia could play for "Vitesse" but now they "are disappointed". Though, it is not worth talking about.
Kashia did not have a work visa and this problem was about to be solved in these days.
- Yes, now he has a visa and on Wednesday he will be in Holland.
As we know, you participated in transfer of Giorgi Chanturia to"Vitesse". Is there any chance that Chanturia will be able to play in official matches of U-18 "Vitesse"?
- No, he will not. Law of Holland prohibits this and it is a problem.
Is it possible that "Vitesse" will send Chanturia out on loan to other country where there is not such law...
- As I know, all member countries of European Union have the same law. But it is possible to do it in non-member countries of the EU. For example, Russia. This new law has just been adopted.
If Chanturia was a citizen of the EU country, would he have the same problem?
- No. Giorgi Kharlamov had the same problem before. He was in PSV and "Twente" but he did not even have a right to train with the main team.
Do you have a friendly and business relationship with president of "Vitesse" Merab Jordania?
- Yes. Giorgi Kinkladze and I (they are partners) talked to Jordania about Kashia. Finally, this issue was settled and we took player to "Vitesse" with us. It is difficult to do otherwise: no one wants to come to Georgia to watch Georgian Championship.
Should we expect the appearance of Georgian players in "Vitesse" in winter?
- Let's see. Yet, these two players are enough.
Because of limit on non EU countries, is it difficult to transfer Georgian players?
- Yes, it is. Besides that, level of Georgian Championship is not so high for foreign clubs to have interest in Georgian players.
