Mason Mount has been training at the club since he was six years old and signed at the Under-8 age group. He has always been an attacking midfielder, capable of playing in any of the central midfield roles and is particularly strong at going from box-to-box. He has scored a lot of goals at schoolboy level but is also a good tackler.

He played seven times for our Under-18s in 2014/15 when still a schoolboy and, despite picking up an injury on the first day of pre-season training, Mount's debut campaign as a scholar was a positive one.

He netted in our 5-1 win at Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup and played a pivotal role as a substitute in both the semi-final and final of our triumphant UEFA Youth League defence in April, setting up two goals in the 3-0 last-four win over Anderlecht. Later in the week, he scored a crucial goal in the first leg of the Youth Cup final away at Manchester City.

The midfielder also made his Under-21 league debut before the end of the season and represented England Under-17s at the European Under-17 Championship.

In April 2017, he signed a new contract that commits him to the club until the summer of 2021.
