Engelse verdediger in beeld bij Vitesse
Leonid Sloetski, de nieuwe trainer van Vitesse komend seizoen, kent Clark nog uit zijn periode bij Hull. De Rus was daar vorig jaar de coach. In december werd Sloetski wegens tegenvallende resultaten ontslagen.
Clark speelde dit seizoen 30 wedstrijden voor Hull, dat de verdediger een nieuwe aanbieding heeft gedaan.
Vitesse laat weten dat de club niet op geruchten reageert.
Championship defender set to leave, despite bids being rejected

Photo by Mark Pollitt.Hull Daily Mail understands that Sky Bet Championship side Hull City have turned down two offers for defender Max Clark, who is out of contract at the KCOM Stadium. One is an unnamed side in the same division as Hull, with Nottingham Forest and Millwall linked with the player. Vitesse Arnhem is said to be the other.
Whilst it may seem a shock to see Eredivisie side Vitesse touted as being an interested party for the player, it has to be remembered that ex-Hull manager Leonid Slutsky will take charge of them from next season. Clark has been offered an extension by Nigel Adkins, although this is on the same terms as before, meaning the Hull youngster hasn’t been given an increased wage.
The 22-year-old made his first real mark on the first team scene with the East Yorkshire club last season. He made 30 appearances after injuries initially threw him into the picture, although he did enjoy a productive season under then-boss Slutsky. Nottingham Forest have been linked with the player before, with Aitor Karanka seemingly a fan of the player. Neil Harris at Millwall might also have something to say on the matter as well. Although bids have been rejected, he is still out of contract and entitled to leave should he wish. However, Hull would still be owed a fee, given that he is under 24. The fact Hull offered him a new deal, means that he cannot depart for free.
Any such fee would need to be settled by an independent football tribunal. Clark, who can play at left back or centre back, has one-month to decide if he wants to accept the offer made to him. It is however increasingly likely he won’t be at the club next season.
