Slutsky key as Vitesse beat Inter Milan to Musonda signing

Vitesse Arnhem coach Leonid Slutsky was key to winning the race for Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda.

Vitesse Arnhem coach Leonid Slutsky was key to winning the race for Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda.

Slutsky pushed hard to bring Musonda to Holland, having worked with the youngster for the short time he was at Chelsea as an advisor.

Inter Milan and Anderlecht were also keen on Musonda, but Slutsky's presence convinced Musonda about Vitesse.

"We have had Charly on the radar for three years now, he is a versatile player who can play both as a ten and on both sides.

"Charly has a good action, has a lot of speed and is technically proficient," said Vitesse director Marc van Hintum.

Musonda is currently tied to Chelsea until 2021.
